Three years ago, we were searching for our first house here in Albany, NY. We spent hours of research in preparation ahead of jumping into the official search. And when we started our house tours one day we locked in on 27 Harris Ave, the first house of the few homes we toured that day after falling in love with the location and setup of the house.
The house had all the things we wanted most on our wish list: a large and open kitchen, lots of storage, and a 2-car garage. But it also had nearly everything else we hoped for – a bonus family room and a backyard patio for the warmer days! The French doors from the kitchen to the backroom to completely open up the main living area was an added bonus.
Some great memories are tied up in this home. We were able to decorate the front porch with some incredible holiday lights and had a blast entertaining the many kids coming through the neighborhood seeing the displays.
We had many wonderful parties both inside and outside of the house — there’s room for a crowd in the kitchen and into the adjacent living and family room as well as out in the patio and yard. The next door neighbors are such good people and will not hesitate to help out, offer advice, and explain some of the history of the home or neighborhood.
After three wonderful years on Harris, we’re relocating to take another job out of state. We are going to miss the neighborhood. We are walking distance to a couple of fabulous restaurants (we almost exclusively eat at Albany Ale & Oyster) and can easily stroll down Hackett Boulevard’s sidewalk. We are both runners and enjoy the quick ability to head out through Albany’s residential areas, parks, and adjoining towns from our central location. The area is a quiet but eventful nook in Albany with quick access to what the city has to offer.
This has been a home filled with love and we wish you, the next owners, the same good fortune.
